After the last few school-free, summer nights (like those at Hartsville Idol above)<\/p>\n

…we had a hugely successful “Screen on the Green” fundraiser for the American Heart Association…<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

…where over 400 people gathered on the lawn of Burry Park to watch Kung Fu Panda…<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

…and Mel…<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

…we also had an impromptu photo shoot that I wasn’t thrilled about at first…<\/p>\n

….a few behind-the-scenes photos….<\/em><\/p>\n

…because it was <\/em><\/strong>just hours after my first work day back at school…but I did lighten up a bit, see?\u00a0 (I was laughing at the girls rolling around on the ground.)<\/p>\n

…and speaking of first days of school…<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

McCanless is still not a morning person….<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

5-year-old Kindergarten started out rocky….<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

…until she found her pal, Eliza, and met Ms. Susie’s pet, Fluffy.<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

…and speaking of firsts.\u00a0 Mary Clare had her very first day of dance class, on McCanless’ very first day of kindergarten…<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

…to which I was just a wee bit late in the pick-up line because of Mary Clare’s dance class.<\/p>\n

\"Reese<\/a><\/p>\n

Reese, turned two!!!<\/p>\n

…and Mary Clare learned all about mascara.<\/p>\n

Tonight, we are all tuckered out from our first official full week back at school…<\/p>\n

\"Mel's<\/a><\/p>\n

…well, that and Mel’s blue jeans, barbecue and bluegrass party officially announcing his run for Mayor last night.<\/p>\n

\"Mel's<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Mel's<\/a><\/p>\n

…great food, great band, great friends.\u00a0 Former SC Governor, David Beasley introduced Mel.\u00a0 Mel did what Mel does best, spoke and entertained a crowd…<\/p>\n

\"Mel's<\/a><\/p>\n

Mary Clare was more impressed with the biscuits, however.<\/p>\n

Today, we all went to the City Hall to watch Daddy officially file for the Mayor’s race.\u00a0 We even had photos taken by the Hartsville Messenger. \u00a0 McCanless thinks Daddy is famous because he has been in the newspaper and on TV13 news.\u00a0 I told her that Daddy doesn’t hold a candle to her.\u00a0 She and Mary Clare have way more followers than he does!<\/p>\n

\"Night<\/a><\/p>\n

…so Mel is out alone tonight, emceeing “Rock the Block” at Burry Park while the girl’s team settles in.\u00a0 We do have a busy weekend ahead…we missed the Red Fox game tonight, but there’s always Hartsville Idol and the Antioch Rodeo tomorrow night!\u00a0 We are also hitting the road for a very special birthday party in Augusta on Sunday!\u00a0 Mary Clare’s best heart buddy, Emerson is two tomorrow!!<\/p>\n
