I laughed yesterday as I read a blog post of a friend.\u00a0 She joked about reading “mom blogs” and how most showcase “picture perfect” moments.\u00a0 Kids smiling in pristine matching outfits, not a hair out of place perfectly positioned in beautiful clean houses with educational toys.\u00a0 Rarely do we see anyone’s dirty laundry, so to speak. \u00a0 Sometimes, we’ll catch a glimpse of the real world in anecdotal type stories meant for a laugh.\u00a0 You know the ones.\u00a0 I’ve written them a thousand times.\u00a0 McCanless shouting out to Father Michael during church, “You don’t say Jesus Christ” is a good example.<\/p>\n
I’ve tried to do my best to encapsulate both of their little personalities in this “mom blog,” but I’ll have to agree with my fellow mom blogger, most of the posts are definitely “the picture perfect moments.”\u00a0 So, in an effort to post more of those “true-to-life” moments and being brutally honest, I’ll post about this Sunday morning…<\/p>\n

I didn’t set the alarm, so I woke up very late at 8:00.\u00a0 (Mel, the girls and I stayed up late to watch our Gamecocks loose to Alabama, sadly.) <\/em> I knew I had just over an hour to get all four of us up, fed, dressed and out the door.\u00a0 I woke up the girls (who were laying beside me along with Emmie, the weinie dog, and Cole, the cat, who must have snuck in) <\/em>and told them to wake up Daddy, who was in McCanless’ twin bed in her room down the hall.\u00a0\u00a0 He was doing breakfast today, like it or not.\u00a0 I jumped in the shower, and noticed that we only had 3 towels left.\u00a0 (I’ve got to do laundry today.)<\/em> I started it last night during the game and only got so far as to sort it out on the kitchen floor…and there it remains still today. \u00a0 McCanless had to wear too small tights, and Mary Clare had to wear too big Sunday shoes.\u00a0 Nothing that a little stretching and a few cotton balls didn’t fix!\u00a0 Mel was on the phone this morning forever with a political mentor, so he was running late and was no help to me after making a mess in the kitchen.\u00a0 As he jumped in the shower and we waited, I grabbed my camera.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Mary Clare fled when she saw my camera and this is where I found her.<\/p>\n In attempts to get a cute Fall Sunday morning photo of my precious girls in their Sunday best (and matching at that), I begged her to come out…<\/p>\n …to no avail.\u00a0 So, I told her she had to come out “right now” and this is the look I got.<\/p>\n![\"Mary](\"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Mary-Clare-on-Sunday-Attempt-1.jpg\" "\\"Mary")
