{"id":3432,"date":"2010-02-24T17:08:13","date_gmt":"2010-02-24T22:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=3432"},"modified":"2010-02-24T17:08:13","modified_gmt":"2010-02-24T22:08:13","slug":"musc-cardiology-apt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=3432","title":{"rendered":"MUSC Cardiology Apt.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yesterday was a simply stunning day in Charleston!\u00a0 It was sunny and 65 degrees.\u00a0 Just beautiful. \u00a0 Mel and I took off with both girls pretty early for a long day at our favorite hospital.\u00a0 I wanted to have Mary Clare checked by her cardiologist, Dr. Forbus, before we flew to St. John in a couple of weeks;\u00a0 just as I did last year before we flew to Mexico and the previous year before we flew to Chicago&#8230;She is becoming quite the world traveler, my Mary Clare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we walked through the halls of MUSC, McCanless stopped me and asked me to pull her loose tooth.\u00a0 (It has been hanging by a thread for days now.\u00a0 I knew she would end up swallowing it as she has done twice before.)\u00a0 I kneeled down and popped it right out!\u00a0 More memories at MUSC!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was time for blood work and that certainly wasn&#8217;t fun for Miss Mary Clare (or Mommy, who had to hold her down), but she proved to be a big girl and only cried for a moment.\u00a0 The dozen or so &#8220;DU-DU Dora&#8221; stickers that Ms. Francis gave her helped tremendously, however!\u00a0 Her oxygen saturation levels were in the low 90&#8217;s, which is an all time high for her!\u00a0 (Her norm is usually mid 80&#8217;s.)\u00a0 Her blood pressure was great, her heart size was great and overall health was great!\u00a0 She is still hovering around 26-27 pounds, so her heart catheterization was scheduled for June, in hopes that she&#8217;ll chunk up at least a bit by then.\u00a0 Her cardiologist just said she is just a petite and short little girl, and will probably always be so.\u00a0 So, they decided to proceed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once Mary Clare has her heart catheteriztion in June, we&#8217;ll know exact levels and pressures in her heart.\u00a0 If everything looks okay, we can schedule her surgery within the next 6 months.\u00a0 (Unless levels\/pressures dictate a sooner surgery date.)\u00a0 The catheterization will only be an overnight stay but Dr. Forbus told us to expect a 6 week stay for the Fontan, her third staged surgery.\u00a0 We have so much to consider and so much to prepare for when that time comes.\u00a0 It&#8217;s ironic, though, after waiting over three years, we are finally at the end of this stage of our journey.\u00a0 I found out about Mary Clare&#8217;s fragile heart in February of 2007.\u00a0 We knew it was a three-staged surgery procedure, and the Fontan seemed so far away.\u00a0 Here we are in February of 2010 and we are preparing for her third and final surgery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Others who have asked get a glazed look on their faces or hold their breaths when we talk about her surgery, but we have already accepted her path and are ready for it.\u00a0 It is a necessity, yet a miracle that we are so fortunate enough to be able to witness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the sun set over the harbor, we headed to my favorite spot, Fleet Landing, for an early dinner and then to Market street for everyone&#8217;s favorite, River Street Sweets, for pralines and rock candy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday was a simply stunning day in Charleston!\u00a0 It was sunny and 65 degrees.\u00a0 Just beautiful. \u00a0 Mel and I took off with both girls pretty early for a long day at our favorite hospital.\u00a0 I wanted to have Mary Clare checked by her cardiologist, Dr. Forbus, before we flew to St. John in a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3432","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3432","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3432"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3432\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3433,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3432\/revisions\/3433"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3432"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3432"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3432"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
