It performs the same function, only in a different way. (an alternate route)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/mt\/blog\/archives\/Sano Shunt.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sano Shunt.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/mt\/blog\/archives\/Sano Shunt-thumb.gif\" width=\"250\" height=\"225\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and because I have had a friend to ask.  No, Mary Clare was not named after the shunt, Blalock-Taussig.  We decided on her middle name, Blaylock before we even heard of the shunt.
