{"id":4396,"date":"2010-08-04T07:51:55","date_gmt":"2010-08-04T12:51:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=4396"},"modified":"2010-08-04T07:59:40","modified_gmt":"2010-08-04T12:59:40","slug":"how-to-tell-summer-is-coming-to-a-close","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=4396","title":{"rendered":"How to tell Summer is coming to a close:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">McCanless and I will start on the first of many (I&#8217;m sure) first grade projects today.\u00a0 She has read her summer reading, thanks to my sister, Kacy.\u00a0 Who just so happens to be a first grade teacher.\u00a0 (Not McCanless&#8217; first grade teacher, unfortunately.)\u00a0 Today we will attempt to conquer her &#8220;Summer Poster&#8221; and maybe get started on her &#8220;Big Scoop&#8221; ice cream book report.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve ordered all of the photo prints from Walgreens and we&#8217;ll venture out to Walmart to gather necessary craft items.\u00a0 I usually try not to take the girls to Walmart unless absolutely necessary, however, this is <em>her<\/em> project and although I&#8217;m such a project girl, myself, I do &#8220;let it go&#8221; when it comes to her work.\u00a0 McCanless is the kid who shows up to school with the obviously completely homemade, completely kid-done homework, projects, and take-home work.\u00a0 100%, I promise.\u00a0 Oh, how I&#8217;d love to jump in there and do it myself sometimes.\u00a0 Not because I want hers to be perfect, but because I just love projects!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have also started bed time boot camp.\u00a0 Baby steps, anyway.\u00a0 We have made McCanless sleep in her bed for two entire nights in a row so far! \u00a0 And there have been no tears, screams or fits, amazingly!\u00a0 I do have to allow her to listen to music while she sleeps.\u00a0 (Whatever works, right?)\u00a0 Funny, mom allowed us to listen to music at night and I learned every book of the Bible this way.\u00a0 I guess listening to the same song over and over and over\u00a0 will do that.\u00a0 I still know them all in order to this day, as long as I sing that same song!\u00a0 I just may have to find that CD!\u00a0 Mary Clare is still in our bed.\u00a0 Every. Single. Night. The little stinker will NOT stay in her bed.\u00a0 This week, we&#8217;ll work on placement in own beds.\u00a0 Next week, we&#8217;ll tackle actually getting into those beds before 10 P.M.\u00a0 Baby steps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We still have not heard from MUSC regarding Mary Clare&#8217;s surgery.\u00a0 Emerson has a surgery date for September and hearing that news was completely sobering.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not ready for that, but I know it is inevitable.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll travel to Emerson&#8217;s 3rd birthday party in Georgia this month and we are really looking forward to that!
