{"id":5885,"date":"2011-06-10T07:54:35","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T12:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=5885"},"modified":"2011-06-10T09:52:34","modified_gmt":"2011-06-10T14:52:34","slug":"lemonade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=5885","title":{"rendered":"Lemonade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0173.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a>8:35 am\u00a0 Mary Clare is soundly sleeping as I type this.\u00a0\u00a0 She and McCanless quickly fell into summer schedules last week.\u00a0 (Yes, it only took my not-so-morning girls merely days to succumb to lazy summer mornings.)\u00a0 After this hospital stint, however, I&#8217;ve got myself a full fledged, self-proclaimed &#8220;almost four-year-old&#8221; night owl.\u00a0 She and her Daddy stayed up well into the dark night watching movies, giggling, and hiding under stiff white hospital blankets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After her load of Keppra yesterday&#8230;\u00a0 (They wanted to get it in her system, so an &#8220;IV load&#8221; is a way to quickly achieve this.) Mary Clare had fewer Myoclonic seizures.\u00a0 Yay!\u00a0 It makes me breathe a bit easier and hopefully not have to watch her like a mamma hen when we return home.\u00a0 As Dr. Turner said, &#8220;She still has an &#8220;off&#8221; EEG.\u00a0 The Keppra doesn&#8217;t &#8220;fix&#8221; her EEG reading or Epilepsy, it merely stops some of her seizures.&#8221;\u00a0 I&#8221;m hoping Keppra is the answer and it stops all of her seizures!\u00a0 It still amazes me that she has been having so many seizures and many times we don&#8217;t even realize that she is having them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thinking back to when we learned of her HLHS.\u00a0 I realize it has been an evolution.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think I will ever become &#8220;used&#8221; to her having a half heart.\u00a0 I will always hope and pray that somehow, we will wake up one day and her heart will be complete, low Oxygen levels won&#8217;t linger and she&#8217;ll no longer need her daily orange pill.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be able to dream of her having her own children and living to be 100 with no further complications or procedures.\u00a0 But.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a realist.\u00a0 I know that it will be a lifelong struggle for her.\u00a0 It took me most of my pregnancy to accept this and while it isn&#8217;t what I dreamed for her, <em>she<\/em> is what I dreamed of.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If I had my choice, sure, I&#8217;d not want Epilepsy to be in her thick medical charts.\u00a0 But it is.\u00a0 Mary Clare has HLHS and Epilepsy.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still learning to embrace it.\u00a0 Like I said, it&#8217;s an evolution.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping that in a few months, maybe years, I&#8217;ll be able to say, &#8220;Sure, she has Epilepsy and it certainly doesn&#8217;t slow her down.&#8221; Just like I&#8217;ve learned to proudly tell people that she has overcome three reconstructive heart surgeries in her three years of life and is great!\u00a0 &#8220;Her heart is fabulous, just like her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Her EEG may be far from normal, but what is &#8220;normal&#8221;
