{"id":6670,"date":"2011-09-16T15:06:32","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T20:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=6670"},"modified":"2011-09-16T15:14:42","modified_gmt":"2011-09-16T20:14:42","slug":"chemo-journal-day-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.babypennington.com\/?p=6670","title":{"rendered":"Chemo Journal- Day 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">September 16-Day 5<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ve realized a few things today.\u00a0 Like hair, aches and fatigue, moments in time are temporary.\u00a0 This morning, as crazy as it sounds, I cried when I shampooed my long hair for the last time.\u00a0 Then I cried when Mel laughed at me for being melodramatic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;You&#8217;ll still have hair to wash tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He truly wasn&#8217;t insensitive.\u00a0 Like I&#8217;ve said before, we make each other laugh.\u00a0 It&#8217;s what we do.\u00a0 Today, <em>temporarily<\/em>, I forgot that.\u00a0 After my hair appointment was all said and done,\u00a0 and every lady in The Plaza (and Mel) ohh&#8217;d and ahh&#8217;d over my short new do, I realized it wasn&#8217;t such a big deal.\u00a0 It&#8217;s only hair.\u00a0 And I kinda like it.\u00a0 Truly, the anticipation of my hair cut was more than the actual cut itself.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not my favorite do, but it will do.\u00a0 (For a few weeks at least.)\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always wanted to try a short cut.\u00a0 What an opportunity?\u00a0 How many people can <em>temporarily<\/em> try out a new hair style?\u00a0 Me.\u00a0 It was more of a rite of passage, anyway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have also realized today that no matter what I want my body to do, it will tell me what it needs and follow suit.\u00a0 I so wanted to have lunch with Mel and spend a bit of time with him today.\u00a0 We walked into a restaurant and immediately the music was too loud.\u00a0 I was dizzy.\u00a0 I was tired.\u00a0 I was so exhausted at that very moment, I just had to go back to the car.\u00a0 When he came back with our to-go boxes, I cried.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t even make it to Target.\u00a0 Target!\u00a0 Never have I ever given up such an opportunity.\u00a0 I so could have milked it with Mel.\u00a0 Poor pitiful me, having to cut my hair and feeling low would have been the golden ticket at Target today.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t even muster up the energy to keep my chair upright.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is only temporary.\u00a0 My hair is short.\u00a0 My hair will fall out.\u00a0 I will feel good.\u00a0 I will feel bad.\u00a0 Temporarily.\u00a0 I was hoping my hip aches would end yesterday, yet they continue on.\u00a0 Those aren&#8217;t quite as temporary as I had hoped.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today my friends cried with me when I shared with them that I was cutting my hair.\u00a0 We cried, then we laughed at how ludicrous that is.\u00a0 Ash even sent photos of me with various bad hair from the decades.\u00a0 Temporarily horrid styles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Overall Day 5<\/strong> My hair is now short, thanks to my own choice, not chemo.\u00a0 I&#8217;m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my girls, they have yet to see me today. &#8220;Bubba&#8221; (my dad-nickname given by McCanless) shaved his own head.\u00a0 His own choice, much to my mother&#8217;s dismay.\u00a0 Today is the first cool day of fall.\u00a0 My neck feels it for the first time, ever.\u00a0 My hips ache, my ribs ache. I have slight shortness of breath.\u00a0 Little nausea.
