We’re home!!

We were discharged this morning and made it home just after lunchtime! Mary Clare is doing very well and has been napping most of the afternoon. I think she is glad to be back home and in her own crib…on her belly!

As I walked out of the hospital with tears in my eyes, I felt such an overwhelming sense of relief. What a year it has been. In January, we had no idea what was ahead of us. We soon found out that we were having a baby girl, then later began our long journey with HLHS. Now, here we are in December of the same year having witnessed the birth of our Mary Clare and been with her as she faced the most difficult year of her young life. Two open heart surgeries, hundreds of hours of doctors appointments and a much stronger family later, we are home and well and so ready for all 2008 will bring. I couldn’t ask for a better Christmas! God is good!

WOW!!! I am so glad to hear the news. I was on the verge of calling you a few hours ago to see how things were going! God is so good. He is the ultimate healer and Mary Clare is a shining example of what true faith in Him can do. You and Mel have been so strong and such good witnesses for miracles. Love you!

God has given us another Christmas miracle! Mary Clare has brought our family closer to God and helped me to realize just how precious life is. I thank God for His love and for giving me such a wonderful family.
Thank you Kerri and Mel for including me as well as everyone who loves you with your journey in life with Mary Clare and of course, McCanless.
I love you so much and I’m so very proud of you and Mel. You are wonderful parents and Christians. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.

WOW! Who would have even thought that Mary Clare could have open heart surgery on Dec. 7th and be back home in Hartsville a mere 5 days later. Kerri, you are right, God IS good. I praise and thank Him for His healing touch and for His boundless love for all of us. Now go and enjoy a normal life. Love, Judy

I am so glad to hear that you guys are home. I know that the baby is happy to home also. I can’t wait to get to see you guys again. Carter has been so worried about Mary-Clare and McCanless. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. You are doing such a good job of taking care of those girls and Mel. Kiss the babies for me and Carter and we love you guys and keep you in our prayers.
