Who’s who…

My oncologist, Dr. Butler

When Dr. Sweatman said he was the best, he meant it.  Mel’s dad brought a Greater Columbia Business Monthly journal over this week.  Guess who I found listed in 2011 Best Doctor’s (SC’s Top Physicians-focusing on treating and curing cancer)?  Most of the doctors in the journal were from South Carolina Oncology Associates, in fact.    Not only was Dr. Butler featured, my favorite nurse of all time was also interviewed and pictured.

Kerri,
I have been following your journey so far since you were diagnosed with breast cancer. Your strength & outlook are both inspiring!! I want you to know I am praying for you, Mel & your girls!! I would love to have your address to be able to send cards & maybe a little care package. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!! Thanks for being so open & honest & sharing your thoughts & feelings on all of this. I am sure it is very overwhelming at times, and I appreciate how real you are with your words. Sending lots of love your way!

I don’t know much about this cancer thing. I only know that it’s another set back for you, but only for a short while in comparision
You have been so amazing with your explanations of your “Journey.” As a mom, I just want everything to be as normal as can be with no suffering for YOU. As far as the girls, they have so much love and support from everyone. Cannie is so much like you and understands so much-at times I don’t want her to be so grown up. Clare is a princess at heart living in a fairytale!~We will all do whatever it takes to make this “Journey” as easy as possible. As far a the effects on the girls, they will only appreciate you more and be convinced MOM can do anything, especially in Cannie’s eyes. I’ll be your “Fairy Godmother”-whatever you need I’ll be there! LOVE YOU!

AHA!!! No wonder Dr. Butler is one of your favorites – you have found yourself another
“bow tie guy”…tell Mel that he had better
watch out!

I love your blogs and envy your ability to express yourself so well. Still loving and praying for you and all of your family!

Hi, Kerri. Good to see you guys Sun night. Dr. Butler is a brilliant man. Has the deepest voice known to man. Did you know he was an artist? His son, Charlie, an oncology fellow, was a medical student during my residency. I deal with Dr. Butler on a day to day basis regarding our lung cancer patients. You are in excellent hands. I assume your port will be done at Baptist, but if you ever need a place to crash or don’t feel like driving all the way home after chemo, just call us. You are welcome to stay and have Ella and Sophia entertain you. Brandi

Being surrounded by bow tie guys has got to be a really good omen! God is good. Love you!

Thanks so much, Brandi. I truly appreciate you offer to help! (I had the port placed by Dr. Sweatman at Richland on Tuesday.) I’m just ready to get the show on the road! 🙂 Thanks for your encouraging words regarding Dr. B. It’s comforting to hear that from someone in the medical world. (Means so much more coming from a colleague of his!!) Great to see you at Newsome Fest the other night! I’m so going next year. Tell Darrell to send me an invite!
